What is the law regarding Open Car Titles in North Carolina?
I am selling an old vehicle for the company I work for, the buyer plans to immediately resell and has asked for an open title, I do not know the NC laws concerning this and do not want to get myself in big trouble with work

- Open titles are Illegal in all states
- Unless you are a dealer, an open title is illegal. The seller is supposed to sign the title and the buyer is supposed to register the car within a set duration of time (30 days). As a general rule, I always tell sellers to date the title because it's impossible to make sure the buyer did their part. This makes it more difficult for the 'buyer' to try an open title because of any potential fines involved with not registering the vehicle within 30 days. Good luck.
