how do police reports work on car accidents?

i was recently in an accident where i was in the middle of the street waiting to make a left hand turn, when i noticed all lights were red and the traffic on the other street was about to go so i mad sure no cars were coming because people always run red lights there. So i started to turn when a car was running the light and hit my finder and gave me all her information but then left for work. can i still file one or is it too late?

1. Well, you have their information.. Go to your police station and file a report. Edit: By file a report, i mean tell them what happened.
2. No its not too late and you need to do it ASAP because this will be considered a HIT and RUN...........
3. How long ago were you in the accident? Many centers will only give between 24-48 hours to report, but if you have all the information, take it either to a lawyer or to the police. This would be your best bet.
