Should I sell parts of my car online or get it towed away?
My car ran out of engine oil which killed the motor. I was advised that I should just get rid of the car and purchase something else. So, I'm wondering if I should take the car apart and sell each part online or salvage the whole thing for a "tax credit"? It's a 1996 Dodge Stratus that had 170,000ish miles on it. It only cost me $1000 for the car and I have a manual so I can take the whole thing apart if I wanted to. I know that there is a company near where I live that will give be a tax receipt but I don't think it'll be as much as I can profit off of the parts themselves. All the money I get for my car has to go right back to getting another one, so the more the merrier!

- Don`t waste your time that car was junk when you got it.you will get more money for scrap then for them junk parts left on that P O S . sorry jus tellin it like it is ,you got your $ out of it,junk it and be done
- If you get sell some parts online then you will get some money out of it ,,, if you have it towed then you will most likely have to pay.... put it on craig's list get what you can....
- The Kidney foundation in some areas will give a tax reciept,
- depends... the engine is gone, the tranny has lived its life... if the body, interior, optional parts are still in good condition, then it would make sense to part it out... if the body looks like ass, the windows are broken, the interior is junked, and its a base model... its going to be nearly impossible to part it. if it has items like a premium stereo, keyless entry, stainless steel interior trim, leather, sun roof, ect, then gut it before you tow it in, because you will always be able to sell these parts to online enthusiast... http://www.dodgeforums.com
