if I sign the back of a car title is it mine?
I am buying a car on friday.. I will be signing the back of the title.. I was told when I do this there is nothing the seller can do.. I won't be having any money todo a transfer of titles @ the actual notary. The seller is moving to puerto rico in a week so I can't wait to do it it has to be done asap. What should I do?

- Only if the owner's signature is also in the title. You also need insurance in order to make the title transfer.
- if the title is in his name he needs to sign title not you ?? if its not in his name you need to find the person that is on title as owner before you can do anything with title or registry. if you dont know this person be very carefull about this deal you might get shafted !!!
- Pay close attention to who signs the title and watch the wording of the person(s) name. If it has 2 owners, both of their names has to be printed and signed under the seller's block. Make sure the title is clear with no liens or salvage remarks.
- It is not yours until the title is transferred into your name. Not likely, but possible, there could be problems with the title and you lose all the way around. Worse case scenario (and ,again, unlikely) the owner could have already applied for a lost title and sold the vehicle to someone else.
