how many cars are you aloud to sale in a year?

Im not a dealer but i like to buy and sale cars to make money on the side. is there a certain amount im aloud to sale in the state of california without being tax or being illegal? do i need a dealers license?

1. I don't know about California, but in Nevada you can only sell 3 cars without a dealer's license. This is a simple question that can be answered by contacting the California DMV.
